The app

A companion for
every practice.

Spend your energy on the rhythm. Your Watch keeps track of the workout, while the iPhone companion helps manage permissions and your RMD HI connection.

  1. See your workout as it happens

Follow elapsed time, heart rate, active calories, and intensity on your wrist. Pause or end the workout from your Watch.

  2. Save it with Apple Health

With your permission, TaikoFit records your workout in Apple Health. Your Health permissions stay under your control.

  3. Connect your RMD HI history

Eligible members can pair the iPhone companion with the RMD HI Home Screen app. Separately opt in to encrypted summary sync to see workouts alongside your own attended practices.

Getting started

Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later and a paired iPhone with iOS 18 or later.

RMD HI practice prompts and connected history currently require an eligible RMD HI account. This page, our privacy policy, and support are open to everyone, including people who are not RMD Hawaii members.

RMD HI member sign-in  ·  Questions about access?

Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko Hawaii (RMD Hawaii, “we”) provides TaikoFit. This policy covers the TaikoFit Apple Watch app, its iPhone companion (which may appear as “RMD HI – Exercise App”), this public page, and TaikoFit’s optional workout connection to the RMD HI Home Screen web app. It applies to anyone using these features, whether or not they are an RMD Hawaii member. Other club activities and unrelated member-app features are outside this policy’s scope.

Health access is your choice. Uploading workout summaries requires a separate opt-in. Your workout readings are not used for advertising, marketing, sale, or data brokerage.

1. Information we use and why

  • Workouts and Health information. With your permission, TaikoFit reads workout records, heart rate, active energy, resting heart rate, and date of birth from Apple Health to display workouts, calculate summaries, and estimate intensity zones. The Watch app records workouts in Apple Health. Date of birth and resting heart rate are used on your device for these calculations.
  • Account and connection information. When you sign in, we process your email and authentication information through Supabase to authenticate your RMD HI account. We use your account ID, device and pairing IDs, app version, registration and last-seen times, and notification tokens to maintain your connection and deliver practice prompts. Practice identifiers, attendance eligibility, and whether a matching workout is available help connect your own practice history. Connection and availability metadata may be processed even when encrypted summary sync is off.
  • Optional synced summaries. Only after you choose “Agree and Enable Private Sync,” the iPhone encrypts and uploads summaries of eligible practice workouts. These contain workout duration, average and maximum recorded heart rate, active calories, and time in heart-rate zones. This feature does not upload individual heart-rate samples, date of birth, resting heart rate, or unrelated Health records.
  • Service and support information. We process consent choices and times, sync times, and technical request information needed to operate and secure the service. If you contact us, we use the contact information and message you provide to respond.

2. Sharing and protecting your information

We use Supabase for account authentication, connection records, and storage of encrypted summaries. Apple provides HealthKit, communication between your paired devices, and Apple Push Notification services. These providers process information needed to deliver their respective services.

Synced workout summaries are encrypted on your iPhone before upload. The decryption keys remain on your paired iPhone and RMD HI Home Screen app; those keys are not uploaded to Supabase. The service can read account, device, pairing and practice identifiers, workout availability, consent records, and sync timing, but does not hold the keys to read the encrypted workout values. Family membership or club administrator status does not grant access to your encrypted workout readings.

The Home Screen app decrypts your summaries while displaying them and clears the workout view when hidden or closed. Pairing keys are stored locally. Device security still matters: someone with access to an unlocked device or compromised app code may be able to access information you can view.

We do not use your Health information or workout readings for advertising or marketing, sell them, or provide them to data brokers. We do not use iCloud or CloudKit to store exported workout summaries. Apple Health’s own storage and synchronization depend on your Apple settings and Apple’s policies.

3. Your permissions and choices

Apple Health read permission alone does not enable summary uploads. Private sync is off until you explicitly enable it in the iPhone app. You can use other RMD HI features without opting in.

You can review or revoke TaikoFit’s Health access in Apple Health or your device’s Settings. You can change notification permissions in Settings. Restricting permissions may limit workout features or practice prompts. To remove summaries already uploaded, use the deletion controls below; revoking Health access alone does not guarantee deletion of previously synced copies.

Keep the iPhone companion installed for connected features. iOS controls background activity, so a locked phone, force-quit app, lost connection, or expired login can delay sync. Reinstalling the app or clearing the Home Screen app’s storage may require pairing again.

4. Retention and deletion

Encrypted summaries stay in the active service while sync and the associated pairing remain enabled. You can remove them without deleting the original workouts in Apple Health:

  • Stop sync & delete copies in RMD HI’s My Profile stops uploads from the connected iPhone and deletes that iPhone’s synced summaries across its pairings.
  • Disconnect in the Home Screen app removes that pairing, its synced summaries, and its locally stored pairing keys.
  • Disconnect & Delete Copies in the iPhone companion removes that device’s workout availability, pairings, and synced summaries.

Server deletion requires a successful connection. If an action fails or the device is offline, retry when connected. Removing the app alone does not request server deletion. Original Health workouts can be managed separately in Apple Health.

Removing a practice or pairing removes its associated encrypted records. Attendance or account-link changes remove access; the next successful sync removes ineligible summaries. Health workout deletions are reflected after a successful HealthKit scan. Apple does not disclose all read-permission changes to apps, so use the explicit deletion controls to remove previously uploaded copies.

Deletion removes active database records. Encrypted records may remain in restricted provider backups until those backups expire under the provider’s configured retention. Pairing keys are not included in our server backups. Account, connection, security, and support records are retained as needed to provide the service, resolve requests, and meet applicable obligations. To request deletion of account or connection information, or if you cannot access the in-app controls, contact us below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.

5. Visiting this public page

You do not need an account to read this page or policy. This page does not include advertising trackers, analytics scripts, or a login form, and does not request Health access. Our website host may process normal web request information, such as IP address, requested page, browser information, and access time, to deliver and secure the website. Following the member sign-in link takes you to the separate RMD HI member app.
